Elliptical gears enable torque transmission with unequal gear ratios in the orbital plane. Applications include, for example, pick-and-place systems, where a part must be picked up and set down slowly, but the movement in between takes place rapidly. Another example is adjustment mechanisms where finer adjustment must be possible in the centre position.
We manufacture elliptical gears to customer drawings across a wide range of diameters and modules using free-form milling from tempered steel or in a case-hardened version. Optionally, the tooth flanks can also be precision-machined after hardening to quality grade 6 in accordance with DIN 3961.
